Further Reflection, Discussion, and Application
  1. Describe a time when you were invited into something that you were excited about (like the story on Sunday).
  2. Read Gen 12:1-3.  What do you think this experience was like for Abram? What promises does God make?  What responses is God asking Abram to make?
  3. In your own words, how would you describe the connections between this covenant with Abram and the gospel in Jesus (a few cross references were mentioned on Sunday; there are many more which may be helpful in exploring this)?  What is your response to these connections?
  4. What does this passage show you about the heart of God?  What is His ‘blessing’? Do you believe that ‘God is on a mission’?  If so, what difference does that make to you?
  5. What do you think of the ‘blessed to be a blessing’ idea?  What are some practical examples of letting God’s blessings flow through someone to bless others?  Where might God want His blessings to you to be turned outward to bless others?
  6. Where is your heart most touched by the blessings you have received in Jesus?  What areas have you maybe taken God’s blessings for granted?
  7. God has invited you to join His mission – what are you doing with that invitation? Where are you (or might you begin!) taking that invitation and partnering with God’s mission?  In other words, what is your part in God’s mission in the world?
