Questions for further reflection and discussion
- Romans 12:1 says “offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God…” What does that mean?
- Romans 12:2 says “do not conform to this world but be transformed…” Is there a difference between changing and being transformed?
- What is your role in transformation and what is God’s role in transformation?
- What would you like to see different about yourself? Why?
- Romans 12: 2 says “do not conform to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” A renewed mind thinks differently. Read Romans 12:3-14 and describe how you are to think differently about yourself.
- Read Romans 12:17-21 and describe how you are to think differently about your enemies or those who have wronged you / mistreated you.
- Read Romans 13:1-6 and describe how you are to think differently about authority and those who are in leadership over you.
- Read Romans 13:8-10 and describe how you are to think differently about love.
- Read Romans 13:11-14 and describe how you are to think differently about your lifestyle.
- Read Romans 14 through 15:13 and describe how you are to think differently about the church.
- Notice how many verses Paul wrote about thinking differently about the church? All of chapter 14 and half of chapter 15! Why do you think he spent so much time on this?
- Memorize Romans 12:1, 2.
Going deeper: Study the first 11 chapters of Romans and write a doctrinal statement on your study; or simply stated, write a paper on what you believe.
