Further Reflection, Discussion, and Application
  1. Read 1 Peter 2:11, 12.  Read it multiple times – I’d suggest 3 or more.
  2. Some have called these verses “the pivotal passage in 1 Peter” – why do you think this is?  What most catches your attention from reading these verses?
  3. How do these verses connect to 2:4-10?  How would you summarize, in your own words, what it means to love God, love people, live the mission from this broader section of 1 Peter 2:4-12?
  4. The identification of ‘aliens and strangers’ reminds us of 1:1, 17.   What do you think this meant for the original audience?  What does it mean for us today?
  5. What is the warfare of v11?  How are we to fight it?  Where are you facing the battle and how are you doing in that regard?
  6. The call of verse 12 is to ‘good’ – good lives and good deeds. Where do you see this?  What does it look like?  Are you living the mission in this way?
  7. Talk about the idea of being accused for wrong in v12.  Are Christians accused of doing wrong?  How about you?  How should we/you respond?
  8. The one goal over all of 1 Peter 2:11, 12 is that people would “glorify God”.  In your own coming to glorify God (salvation), what role did the good lives and deeds of other Christians play in that process?
  9. Who is around you that might “see” and be watching your life?  What kinds of things might lead them from not believing to trusting in Jesus (“glorify God”)?
  10. What are you doing to seek to reach them (with your life and actions)? How much is prayer a part of that?
  11. What one primary application will you make this week in response to 1 Peter 2:11, 12?  Be specific.
