- Series: The Questions Jesus Asked
Further Reflection, Discussion and Application
- Why do you think money is so important to us? Why are the issues of money sometimes difficult to talk about?
- Read Luke 12:13-21 – can you identify with the one who asked Jesus the question? How would you have answered a question like that yourself? How do think the story (parable) Jesus told develops the point of v15?
- Note the contrast between two ways of living in v21 – which do you more lean toward (give an example or evidence if you can)? How could you be more “rich toward God”?
- Read Luke 12:22-34 – Note how Jesus continues to use questions (Lk 12:14, 20, 25, 26) in this broad section. What do His questions here communicate?
- Where can you relate to the tendency to worry about money? Which of Jesus’ comments give you the greatest strength to not worry (from v22-34)?
- How subtle is greed, and why? How subtle is worry, and why?
- Reflect and comment specifically on Lk 12:32-34. What does that mean to you? What does that mean for you? Does it comfort/convict/call you to change?
- Do you really believe what Jesus said in Lk 12:15b? Really? How does that show in your life in the three contrasts we pointed out on Sunday (don’t worry, trust God; don’t hoard, give away; don’t judge, love others)?
