Further Reflection, Discussion, and Application
  1. Do you have a particular Easter that stands out in your memory? If so, what made that Easter especially memorable?
  2. Read 1 Corinthians 15:1-8. As the Apostle Paul writes this section, how important is this to him? Why? How does this influence your reflections on the resurrection of Jesus?
  3. This section summarizes “the gospel” (i.e., the good news) – how would you put this ‘news’ into your own words?
  4. What do you believe about the claim (news) that Jesus was raised from the dead and why?
  5. In 1 Corinthians 15:9-11 Paul speaks about the transformation to his own life because of the grace of God. What does it look like to have the grace of God be “not without effect” in our lives?
  6. 1 Corinthians 15:12-19 mentions a number of things that would be true “if there is no resurrection” and “if Christ has not been raised”. List out what these things are. After reviewing the list (kind of depressing, isn’t it?), remember that “Christ has indeed been raised from the dead” (v20a). Go back through the list and re-state each of the things from the original list in light of Jesus’ resurrection.
  7. The message on Sunday mentioned how Easter is the invitation to a new beginning of forgiveness (see v3, 17 and others). What does that mean to you personally?
  8. We also considered how Jesus’ resurrection offers a new beginning of purpose (see v10, 14, 19 and others). What does that mean to you personally?
