Further Reflection, Discussion, and Application
  1. What present hardships are you facing that seem to interfere with the worldly image of success?  The beatitudes in Luke 6 suggest that our poverty, hunger, and persecution are blessings.
  2. How can your hardships present an opportunity to need God?  Discipleship begins with receiving.
  3. What posture do you have towards your hardships?  Are you willing to be in a place of need?
  4. How do I live as a disciple in real time? (What present circumstances can God use to change me, to bless me?)
  5. Ask God to help you participate in this upside-down kingdom, not outside of your woes and hardship, but as a direct result of them.
