Further Reflection, Discussion, and Application
  1. Review Acts 15; try to re-tell the story. You can do this in segments (v1-5, 6-11, 12, 13-21, 22-35).
  2. Have you seen or been part of settings where things are added to the gospel (expected extra-biblical rules)?  How does this relate to Acts 15? (Also compare Galatians 2.)
  3. Some today say ‘doctrine divides but love unites’; what do you think of that statement?
  4. What are the things that you believe and care enough about to stand up for?
  5. How did the apostles and elders arrive at the decision in Acts 15? Where do you see their care for the core truths of Christianity and also their sensitivity to the tensions between Jewish and Gentile believers?
  6. How would you describe the essential gospel message?  (We’ve  seen the centrality of this over and over again in Acts; the repetition / reminders are good for us.)
  7. How are you striving for the truth in every part of your life?  How does this affect your thinking?  How does this affect your speech?
  8. Why did God (through Luke) record Acts 15?  Some have said that Acts 15 is the center of the book of Acts, chronologically and theologically; what makes this chapter so important to the message of Acts?  What importance does this chapter / message have to you?
  9. What principles on caring about the truth has God taught you from this passage? How can you apply those lessons to your life?
