Further Reflection, Discussion, and Application
- What is spiritual growth? Is spiritual growth something that I’m supposed to pursue? Why?
- How am I supposed to seek spiritual growth? What would this do with my current priorities?
- In the message we looked at Barnabas’ encouragement / exhortation to remain true to the Lord with all their hearts (Acts 11:23). How would you rephrase that in your own words? Who gives you that encouragement / exhortation? Do you give it to anyone else?
- What is my part in my spiritual growth? What part does prayer serve in my spiritual growth? How does this work? What does God want? How can I pray effectively to God?
- What part do other people play in my spiritual growth? Who exhibits godly characteristics in my life? Can you name some people who are good examples for you to pattern your life after? Who encourages you? Who do you encourage? What do you encourage other people about?
- What are you passionate about? What are you good at? Why do you do the things you do? How have you engaged in using these things in serving God? How have you grown through serving God?
- How much time each week are you spending in the Bible? Do you study the Bible? What does that mean? Is it about learning more facts or allowing God to make personal applications to you? How are you remembering those applications after the Bible study is over? Are you understanding and being shaped by what you are reading?
- How did the early church grow closer to God? See Acts1:14; 2:36-39, 42, 44, 46, 47; Acts 4:23-32; Acts 9:31; 11:19-30? How does this apply personally to you?
- How have you used your talents for God? What have you learned through this experience? Has God ever asked you to do something you thought was beyond your capabilities?
- Where do you most need to take a step to grow in remaining true to the Lord with all your heart? How and when will you take that step?
