Further Reflection, Discussion, and Application
- Read Acts 2:42-47. What are some of the character attributes that we see lived out in these verses describing the fellowship of the early believers?
- How are these character attributes similar to what we see in the Beatitudes, (Matthew 5:3-10)?
- In John 13:34-35 Jesus said, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” How do you see this command being lived out in the community of the early believers? (See Acts 2:42-47; 4:32-37.)
- In the pages of Acts we see the early believers coming together to pray communally. Read Acts 4:23-31. For what did these early believers pray? How was their prayer answered?
- Acts 2:47 tells us that the community of the early believers enjoyed “the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.” Why/how was this way of living such an effective form of evangelism?
- The community and fellowship of the early believers had a marked trust of and 'dependence' on God. Is this true of your Christian experience? Why or why not?
