STAND STRONG

This is the focus of our Sunday morning series in 1 Peter.  We introduced and set the stage for the series last Sunday.  (If you missed the message you can listen to or download it.  Click here.) I am excited about our walking through this book together as it is very relevant to the challenges we face today.  I encourage you to take some time to read 1 Peter on your own.

INDIA

Jeff, Reggie, and I (Dan) had a great trip to India in September.  Some of our reflections are on the blog (here on the website under Resources).  I also shared a bit in the September 27 message (also available here on the website under Resources).

We’ll plan to share a bit more in our services on October 11 about how we see this moving forward, but here is the super short version:  out of our core commitment to live the mission (and in response to the Great Commission – Mt 28:18-20) we desire to be a part of ‘making disciples of all nations’ and seeing the good news of Jesus spread. India is a place of great need and also a place where God is doing some great things through national leaders.   We went to explore the possibilities of partnership between SunHills and KEA (Karnataka Evangelistic Association).  We are excited about what can happen through this partnership.  The place to begin is in prayer, so please join us in praying for God’s work in Karnataka, India and through the ministries of KEA.

HOE DOWN

Dust off those boots and dig out your recipes!  We’re having a Hoe Down – Sunday, Oct 25 at 4:00pm.  The evening will include a chili cook-off, pie baking contest, square dancing and activities for kids – there’s something for everyone so don’t miss this all-church event.  If you would like to help with organizing it or for more information, contact Jill Vogel, .

Budget

One of the expenses we have coming up this month, and that you will notice right away, is the re-surfacing of our parking lot.  This needed to be done so that we don’t incur greater costs later in parking lot repairs.

KIDS

THANK YOU to our awesome Children’s Ministry staff and volunteers.  Your ministry is a blessing to kids and to the SunHills family.  Last Sunday, we launched Edge 45, a new program for 4th and 5th graders, which meets during first service.  It’s an opportunity for kids to connect with each other, grow in their relationship with Christ, and see how God’s Word applies in their lives, while having fun with activities geared to their age.  (There is no change to our first service programs for K-3rd or to children’s programs during second service.)

STUDENTS

Just a quick ‘shout out’ here – great things are happening with our students and Student Ministries.  Students, if you are reading this I hope you are plugged in with PowerLine (High School) and Wide Awake (Middle School).  Non-students, I hope you’ll encourage the students you know to come and check out what is happening on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.

Save these dates!

October 27 – PowerLine Crazy 80’s Halloween Party

October 28 – Wide Awake Crazy 80’s Halloween Party

Wide Awake and PowerLine also now have their own websites.  You’ll find links on our Student Ministry page.
