SunHIlls May Update

We finished April with a great Easter celebration.  We had 3 services and welcomed many new faces.  Thank you for sharing SunHills with family and friends – we hope you’ll continue to invite them as we begin a new message series this month and look forward to some fun events coming up.

 

MISSION HIGHLIGHT

Beginning with May, we are focusing on a different area of mission each month.  For May, our emphasis is Mexico and what was accomplished by our high school ministry during spring break in Ensenada.   We hope you were here for our services on May 1, which included video and testimony from several people who were part of our Mexico team.  In addition we heard an update about our partnership in Hosamane, India and information about a SunHills team that will be serving for 2 weeks in Kenya in June.   (If you missed it, you can listen or download the message by clicking on the message link to the right.) 

 

UPCOMING SUNDAYS

This Sunday, May 8, is Mother’s Day.  Join us for a time of honoring moms of all ages and in all seasons of life.  Our services will include child dedications.

And on May 15 we’re beginning a new series, “Shaped by Stories”, which will take us through the parables of Jesus.  The parables of Jesus are really just stories that he told – and they are powerful. These stories are intended to ‘shape’ us and make a difference in our lives. This will be a great time for us to explore Jesus and his teachings and how we can be shaped by stories…

 

STUDENT MINISTRY

Middle School Ministry has two Friday night events this month:

  • May 6 – Friday Movie Night!  6:30pm - 9:00pm on the SunHills big screen.  The movie is "Tangled" and pizza and popcorn will be provided.
  • May 20 – Parents’ Night Out!  5:30- 9:30pm at SunHills.  Middle school students and leaders will provide childcare for the evening.  All donations received will be used to offset the costs of Hume Lake camp.

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY

SummerBlast, our annual VBS event for kids, is coming up June 20-24 and we’ve already begun preparations.  It takes a large group of people to make this event happen and there are lots of ways to be a part of it – decorating crew, planning and serving food, small group leaders, activity center helpers, cleanup crew, and more.  Contact Jill Vogel () for more information about how you can be involved here or as part of our Sunday Children’s Ministry.

We also have two Friday night events in early June to note on your calendars now:

  • June 3 - Edge 45@Night! (grades 4-5) The theme is Finger Rockets and Dodge Ball Bonanza.
  • June 10 – Kids Just Want to Have Fun.   We’ll show a movie and have lots of fun activities (grades K-3).
