STUDENT MINISTRIES
I think this is the last SunHills update that I will write before Kevin Woolums begins as our Pastor of Student Ministries. Yeah! We are excited about having Kevin and Vanessa here at the beginning of June. (For more on Kevin, including a word from him, see the April update; if you didn’t get that and would like to, you may request it from Heather at .)
I am so thankful for the leadership and service that has been present for student ministries in the interim months! Jill and the MNL team (Mat Craig, Luke Aubrey, Josh Cooper, Ren Elser, Bree Lyle, Jessy Gilger, and John Glaze) – thank you for your energetic and joyful ministry with Middle Schoolers. Rip, Cheryl and the DV8 team (Rachel Anderson, Rodney Bughao, Dale Dockendorf, Anneleise Graf, Sherry Graf, Jake Owen, Dan Richards, Karen Rowe, Allison Sept, and Sharon Von Bokern) – thank you for your leadership and care for ministry to High Schoolers. Student and adult leaders will continue to have a huge role in partnering with Kevin and serving in our ministry to students.
As we give thanks to God, we can also remember to pray for Kevin and Vanessa as they prepare to dive in here. Kevin will start at the beginning of June. He’ll get set up here and they’ll get settled in the area.
On Sunday, June 7 we’ll have a welcome in the service and a BBQ afterward so you can get to know them. They’ll jump into MNL and DV8 that week (June 8 & 9)….
BE THE CHURCH
We’re excited about what God will do this August and beyond as we continue to learn and grow in the concept of what it means to “Be the Church”!
“Be the Church” is just one part of the SunHills SUMMER schedule – there are many great things coming up (including SummerBlast in June!) – check the Sunday program for a list of summer activities.
BUDGET
I appreciate the responsiveness of people to the April 26 meeting about finances, also to the email summary that came out on April 30. (Again, if you did not get this and would like to have it, contact Heather at .) Your participation in the ministry of SunHills in this way is a blessing and an encouragement. Thank you again for your prayerful and faithful support in giving!
QUESTIONS
We’ve begun to explore some of the “Questions Jesus Asked” - Which is easier…? Is it right on the Sabbath to do good or do harm? Who is greater…? Why are you so afraid? Where is your faith?
We will continue listen to Jesus’ questions and how they speak to us and shape us today. But we will not come anywhere near to covering all of the questions Jesus asked – so as you read the stories of Jesus (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) look for other questions on your own…
Grace - dan
