MISSIONS HIGHLIGHT - KENYA
A team from SunHills is gearing up to go to Kenya. Cheryl, Jennifer, Tyler and Jason Rouse; Mat and Tayler Craig; Michelle Haakenson; and Sunny Roccucci will be there from June 14-28, serving and working alongside the people in one of the villages. Please keep them in prayer – for their ministry, for God’s ministering to them through this trip, and for God’s protection and provisions. This undertaking is a large financial commitment and the team is appreciative of your support. They are still in need of approximately $15,500. If you would like to give toward this trip, please contact Cheryl Rouse, or donation envelopes are available at the back of the auditorium on Sundays.
STUDENT MINISTRY
With many students finishing school, you may be wondering which class or group your child or student should attend. All children and students will remain in their current groups and classes until Sunday, July 3. At that point they will “promote” to the grade they will be attending in the fall.
As many of you know we are looking for a Director of High School Ministries. Thank you for joining us in prayer as we continue in that search. In the meantime we’ve got a great crew of volunteer leaders who will continue to work with our high school ministry this summer - Tayler Craig, Rachel Groves, Megan Horrell, Sharon Von Bokern, Luke Aubrey, Chris Canady, and Jason Wetsel. Our leaders will share speaking responsibilities for Tuesday nights and Luke will be coordinating and teaching on Sunday mornings. They have some great things planned for the month of June – stay tuned!
Students are also getting ready for Hume Lake on July 17-23. A second deposit of $100 per student is now due. Parents of students who are attending should also look for an email from Hume with instructions for completing Hume’s registration process. Lastly, students will be washing cars during our services on Sunday, June 12. All donations received from the carwash will offset the costs of Hume.
Middle School Ministry has many good things happening – I won’t take the time to list them all here, because Mat is already sending weekly email updates to middle-school parents. (Thanks, Mat!) If you are interested in receiving those updates, you can email Mat at .
SUMMERBLAST
SummerBlast, our annual VBS event for kids K-6th, is coming up June 20-24. This year’s theme is JUMP! Put Faith in Motion, and we’re exploring the missionary journeys of the apostle Paul. It’s sure to be a week full of high energy, games, and fun. Our final evening, Friday, June 24, is for the entire family, and all of SunHills is invited. Please join us for a BBQ dinner and a recap of our week.
SummerBlast is a great opportunity to invite your friends (be thinking about whom you would like to bring!). Sign-ups are already underway and registration forms are available by clicking here.
This event does not happen without lots of volunteers, and there are many ways to serve at this year’s SummerBlast – from decorating to leading a small group, and from serving food to helping with activity centers. Please contact Jill Vogel () about how you can be involved.
SUMMER
As I mentioned last Sunday, our giving for this year has been above budget and we are thankful for your faithfulness in this area. It allows us to carry out ministry here at SunHills, in our community, and beyond. But most every year when June arrives, giving takes a dip. We may go on a summer vacations but our ministry plans and financial obligations continue. We want to encourage you that your consistent support matters – both in your attendance and in your giving – and thank you for your participation in this.
SHAPED BY STORIES
This month we’re continuing in our Sunday series on the parables of Jesus. This Sunday (June 5) we will consider the important area of forgiveness and how we deal with wrongs that have been done to us – don’t miss it. Then we will look at how His stories shape us for obedience (June 12), shape us with the Father’s love (June 19), and shape us to serve (June 26). I look forward to each of these times together as we meet with each other and God meets with us. See you Sunday!
