MISSIONS
Our mission focus this month is SEED, which stands for the Society for the Empowerment and Enrichment of the Deprived Group. Angel Warrior leads this ministry and has this to say about its purpose:
There are still groups of people in our world today who have not heard the gospel. Deprived of the good news of Jesus Christ. Deprived of basic necessities because of the society they live in which defines them by caste and creed. Deprived of their rights and oppressed by the rich and powerful in society. SEED’s goal is to see the good news of Jesus preached among these people and for churches to be planted firmly among them. SEED’s focus is India where the most number of unreached people groups reside (source: www.joshuaproject.net). India also has the most human need (source: Operation World 2010). India is also the youngest nation in the world with the most number of children between the ages of 4 and 14. This is significant because 80% of the people who accept Christ do so between the ages of 4 and 14. SEED’s vision is not only to see churches planted among the unreached peoples of India but also to engage the church in America to obey the great commission and play their part in the expansion of God’s Kingdom. SEED’s motto is to “help churches plant churches”. Help U.S. churches plant brand-new churches in India through meaningful partnerships with local missionaries. The church planting is done with a holistic (or wholistic is a better way to spell it) approach through national missionaries who are held accountable by local mission agencies. SunHills has partnered with an agency called KEA in India to help plant a church in the village of Hosamane. David and Rosy are the missionaries there and they do both evangelism as well as run the child development center.
History shows us that when the church is focused on the gospel being preached in the uttermost parts of the earth, then the church in Jerusalem will be vibrant and strong as well. SEED’s ambition is to see many American churches engaged in this fashion to build God’s Kingdom in India and in turn to build the Kingdom here in the U.S. as well. God has burdened the folks in SEED to create and facilitate these double-sided partnerships working together with the saints until His Kingdom comes in full power.
CHRISTMAS
Please plan to celebrate Christmas Eve with us during our services at 4:00 and 5:30 pm on Saturday, Dec 24. It will be a special evening of celebrating the birth of Christ and the love of God in sending his Son - a perfect opportunity to invite friends and family to share the joy of Christmas at SunHills! Our Christmas Eve services will be family-friendly with kids in the service as well. Childcare will be available for infants and toddlers.
We are not having services on Christmas Day. If you are looking for an area to serve on Christmas morning, Rodney Bughao is organizing a group to serve breakfast to the homeless in Sacramento from 8-10 am. For more information, send an email to .
BUDGET
As we wind down this year, we are also coming to the end of the 2011 budget year. Thank you again to those who have been faithfully and generously giving! Our 2012 proposed budget is available for your review here or print copies are available on Sundays. The Board of Directors is available after both services on Dec 4 to answer any questions. We will have a vote of affirmation on the 2012 proposed budget during our services on Sunday, Dec 11.
NEW YEAR’S DAY
On Sunday, Jan 1, we will have one service at 10:45. It will be a special time for us all to come together (in one service) and begin the New Year in worship.
