Through him [Jesus] then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name. Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God. – Hebrews 13:15, 16

MISSIONS HIGHLIGHT

Hosamane, India - Angel Warrior who has been involved with our Hosamane Project recently traveled to India and shared an exciting update. The Child Development Center, which will include a daily meal and outreach for the children in Hosamane, has been opened. 25 children have been selected so far to participate in this program which was started by SunHills’ partnership with KEA. We rejoice and thank God for the privilege of sharing in this. For more about the Hosamane Project, click here.

Love in Action – Mat Craig, part of our recent mission team to Kenya, has introduced a project called 'Love in Action'. Its purpose is to put sacrificial love into action by entering into solidarity with the majority of the world that lives on $2 per day. We’d love to have you participate; for those who want to do so, we will spend only $2 per day on food from Aug 1-14 and then give the amount we would have spent on food to empower needy families. If you would like to join in, please contact Mat at

BE THE CHURCH (BTC)

BTC is just around the corner. On August 14th we are not having our regular worship services - we will worship through serving in our community. The goal is to practically and humbly demonstrate the love of Christ for the good of others. This is a great – and important – day for us. Don’t miss it!

Here’s the way it will work: we will meet on our SunHills campus at 9am. We will begin promptly with a very brief time together, group up in our teams, and move out to serve on our projects. There may be some variation on when projects are finished but most should be done by noon. There will be children’s ministry for the younger kids and lunch provided for them at SunHills. If you plan to leave your kids at the church while you are working on a project, please RSVP to so that Jill will know how many to anticipate having here. Please make sure your children are picked up by 12:30 pm.

What can you do now? Sign up for one of our projects. Also pray for how God will use us on this day and for the people we will be serving.

If you have any questions about BTC please contact Tim Kesselring at .

STUDENT MINISTRY

Our middle school and high school students had a great week at Hume. Thanks for your prayers. And thanks to the amazing leaders we have in both of these ministries!

Mat Craig, our Director of Middle School Ministry, communicates regularly with parents regarding Wednesday night youth group, special events, and other updates. If you would like to receive his weekly emails, please contact Mat at .

High School Ministry now has a Facebook page called “SunHills High School Youth Group”. Our volunteer leaders post all events and any scheduling changes here. Jason Wetsel is coordinating our High School leadership team and can be reached at .

RENOVATION PROJECT

Thanks again to those who have been working so diligently. It has taken many volunteers to prepare for the contractors – adding plywood sheeting to the stage, rerouting the irrigation, tiling and reassembling the bathrooms, plus moving things around as the floors were completed – truly, it could not have been done without your help. So thank you.

We are near the end of the construction but still need help with final details, including tile work in the children’s bathroom. If you are available to help on an as-needed basis over the next month, please email . Thank you for your patience (and help) as the projects finish out in the weeks to come…

We are tremendously thankful to be able to do these renovations to update our campus and enhance the ministry that happens here. Our driving goal in this is not just a new look for our building but the continued reaching of people and effective ministry that honors God and moves people to love God, love people and live the mission.

SMALL GROUPS

Being connected with others and growing in our spiritual journey takes more than just coming on Sunday morning. Would you prayerfully consider being in a small group this fall? We will be highlighting some opportunities to do so later this month with groups starting in September.

There is a small group facilitators’ workshop on Sunday, Aug 21, 12:30-2 pm, for anyone who is interested in knowing more about leading a group. If you are open to hosting or possibly facilitating a group, please contact Jackie Adams at and also plan to attend the workshop.

SUNDAY MORNING PREVIEW

  • Aug 7 - We will have a guest speaker, Casey Frye.
  • Aug 14 – BTC
  • Aug 21 and 28 – This will be a two-week mini-series about community – the vital area of our relationships with one another. The short but powerful book of Philemon will be the basis for these timely messages.
