Our Leadership
Our three leadership groups work separately in function but together in a unity that comes from the common desire we have at SunHills to:
Love God, Love People and Live the Mission
Staff: Our staff is responsible for the day-to-day operations of SunHills. The staff serve through leading people and ministries to help our church move forward in our mission.
Elders: SunHills Elders meet weekly to pray for the people and ministry of our church. The elders serve in two primary ways: caring for people spiritually (shepherding) and overseeing the health and development of our mission.
Directors: The Board of Directors (BOD) is responsible for oversight of the administrative aspects of the church including budget and property. The directors serve in these financial and administrative matters to help facilitate our mission.
Ministry Staff:
Dan Haakenson, Lead pastor
Dan has served as Lead Pastor at SunHills since August 2008. Dan is passionate about people being drawn to the greatness and grace of God.
Before coming to SunHills, Dan had been Pastor of College Ministries in Fullerton and then Pastor of Spiritual Formation and Missions in Vacaville (both Evangelical Free Churches). He has served in full-time ministry since 1993, following his graduation from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (Master of Divinity). Other than the years of graduate school, Dan has always lived in California. From age ten through high school, Dan was in the greater Sacramento area. During those high school years Dan met - and fell in love with - Michelle. They both went to Chico State (yes, Chico!) and were married in 1989. Dan and Michelle live in EDH with their 4 kids.

Kevin Woolums, Pastor of Student Ministry
Kevin became the SunHills Youth Pastor in June 2009 after graduating from Simpson University. He has a degree in Discipleship and Ministry Education with an additional emphasis on biblical theology and clinical counseling. Kevin has worked in youth ministry for five years, the last three of these as a staff member at his previous church in Redding. He and his wife, Vanessa have been married since August 2007 and make their home in El Dorado Hills.
